Gandi Essay2

My favorite movie is “Batman Dark Knight”. I like this movie because of three reasons. First, it talks about human’s intrinsic mind. Second, the villain has his own philosophy. Finally, it is not just a happy ending movie with villain losing.
First, the movie talks about human’s intrinsic mind. There is a new hero called Harvey Dent. He is a hero who catches half of the criminals of the city with the law. But, Joker comes to him, and persuades him to become the villain. Then, Harvey becomes a villain. He was the true hero of the city. But inside, he was not that different from the other people. In the movie, Joker says like this: “madness is just like gravity. All you need is just a little push.” Harvey was a person who does not break the law and catches the criminals, and keeps his dream. But Joker, gave him the push.
Second, the villain Joker has his own philosophy. He wants to become the pure evil. He just lives to destroy everything. There are so many villains in the movie and they just care about the money. Joker, does not like that. He just wants evil and burns down all the money. He says that Batman is not too different from himself. Batman and Joker are both weird people. And he says that if the people does not need the Batman anymore, they will just trash him. I think that is true. In the movie, people liked Batman cleaning up the criminals in the city. But as soon as Joker comes, the people starts to hate Batman because they believe that Joker is killing people because of Joker. But, even if Batman takes off the mask and reveals who he really is, the Joker would not stop killing people. If the people starts to think about that, they can find out that it is not Batman’s fault. Joker is trying to tell that the people’s inside is really evil when the dangerous situation.
Finally, the movie is not just happy ending. Most of the hero movies, the hero wins the villain, and the people becomes safe and everybody is happy. But in this movie, it is different. Harvey Dent becomes the villain and tries to kill Batman and kills many people. In that situation Batman had to kill Harvey and save other people. But the city is relying on Harvey that he is really needed. If people know that Harvey the hero became bad and killed many people, the city will become chaos. To prevent that, Batman takes all the situations as like he did it and gets chased by the cops. This means that Joker won. Joker wanted to show people that a hero like Harvey can become like Joker. A madman. And Harvey really did.
In conclusion, the movie shows that people is not kind from the inside. I agree with that. We are not kind from the inside. But we can go over it by Jesus Christ.

I saw a little mistake. You said, 'they believe that Joker is killing people because of Joker.'

  3. I really enjoyed your essay. I watched Batman Dark Knight like 10 times. It's my favorite movie. How can we take care of people like Joker in a real society?

  5. Gandi! I also enjoyed watching the movie 'Batman Dark Knight'. I watched this movie in the States, so I couldn't understand their words well. But it was impressing, especially Joker's mouth. I think it would have been better if you did spacing in the first part of paragraphs.
Do you have your own philosophy too?

  6. I watched the first and second of Batman series after Sammuel Conference. And I thought, as you mentioned, that Dark Knight's a really great movie because it talks about our intrinsic mind and philosophy, though it became little bit violent.
I've never watched Dark Knight Rises (Still waiting for DVD :( ) But I think it would be really fun, too.
My favorite part of this movie is the experiment of Joker. And I want to ask you if you agree with this statement or not, "Not everyone is bad as you think".

  7. Gandi’s favorite movie was “Batman: Dark Knight” for several reasons.
He liked it because the movie tells about the human’s intrinsic mind, and Joker showed him an interesting philosophy, and it does not have an usual tedious ending.
First, The movie talks about the evilness that is hidden in every human’s inside. Harvey Dent shows how easily people can be corrupt even who seems like living righteous, if they lose something they relied on.
Second, Joker reveal’s the dark nature of the human through the extreme conditions. I remember that after watching this movie I said “Wow. Joker is awesome.” Likewise, I think he fell an appeal of evilness.
Third, Usual movies ends with the obvious victory of the main character. but this movie ends with a fail of goodness, and the process of how batman recovers it. It’s more realistic than ordinary endings.
Gandi concludes with his opinion that human is not that good but Jesus is the only way to overcome it.
After I read this essay, I reminded the movie has an amazing influence on our lives, because it’s the living image that stimulates both ears and eyes. It’s almost same as our real experience because it’s image lefts in our unconscious for a long time.
I hope that we all have a little bit of time for reflection. We know that Joker’s philosophy is really a garbage because his trying to reveal the evilness of the human but he does nothing to thrive it or tries to improve our society and individual’s lives. He just wants to enjoy the sufferings of people. How evil he is? But ironically, we feel a certain appeal to him. We feel like he’s gorgeous and charming for his strong character and philosophic words.
But, this shows that the christian world view and knowledges we have learnt are not really ours. Many of cultures those have specific ideas are invading our lives through many media such as drama, movie, music, internet and so on. I think we should take care about our emotions and sentiment as equal as our reason, and keep away ourselves from movie such as like this. Or we’ll going to experience the separation of Id and Ego and collapsed, like Joker wanted to.

  8. Gandi,
Very great philosophical approach to the movie.
I would also like to know what you think as this movie connects to the Dark Knight Rises. Also, I'd like to know your thoughts to this statement: "are we who we know we are, or who others proclaim us to be?"
