"What kind of person am I going to be?" This is a very difficult, unusual question to the person like me who don't have a future plan or don't know what kind of work oneself really want to do.On top of that, it is true that people can't dream or have hope about the future as they get old. I might have became one of those, I guess. The uncertainty is a best illustration for my future.
However, I have a dream on my future. In priority,I dream a life that I am deserved the name of christian, the son of God. I want to live as a christian, who looks and feels around the world in jesus' heart. I want to declare the truth in my work place, and struggle for the value of it and spread it. Whatever I'm going to do, I want to live out my faith in my life.
In addition, as I have shown, I don't have any of exact future plan. Nevertheless, I want to study a political philosophy or sociology. This is, I have an interest on it, because it explains or gives a new perspective about the society and human life, how to live better, more like a human. I will study and argue the alternatives and recovers of the christian value in our society .I would write the essays and books about it, and might do some jobs for the social problems such as a starvation,war,environment and so on.

ReplyDeleteI really agree with that it will be harder to 'dream' one's future when they get old. But I don't think Christians need to be worried about their future. Ask God for a vision and keep praying for it.
ReplyDeleteI see some grammatical errors (or might be typing errors) in your essay. You should capitalize the first letters of the word Jesus and Christian.
Anyway, I really enjoyed your essay and I hope you find your vision quickly. And here's my question: What was your dream when you're young?
Matthew, I really enjoyed your essay. As I take a look on you, I think you always think wide and deep. So while reading this sentence, 'Nevertheless, I want to study a political philosophy or sociology,' I was sure that you will do great on that study. But, I think you should capitalize J in Jesus. I think it is just a mistake while typing down. And I was wondering since when you got interest on problems like 'the society and human life, how to live better, more like a human' while reading this sentence, 'This is, I have an interest on it, because it explains or gives a new perspective about the society and human life, how to live better, more like a human.'.

ReplyDeleteYour essay reflects who you are well. I've known you for almost two years, and I agree with Linda that you will be successful in political and philosophical studies. I think God will use this in you to challenge others and inspire as you do me and your classmates.
I will try my hand at interpreting the sentence that some are confused by and you can tell me in you presentation if I'm right or not :) "This is, I have an interest on it, because it explains or gives a new perspective about the society and human life, how to live better, more like a human." As you study philosophy and society and at the same time learning about how your biblical worldview defines these things, you are learning how to become more human, in a sense that you are progressing as a human, and most importantly as a man made in the image of God. These days, in Christian discussion the word 'human' is used negatively, but in the beginning 'human' was good. Jesus Christ was indeed the truest and most perfect human. So your interest shows you more about what it means to be truly human progressing as a person but most importantly as a Christian.
Maybe I'm very off in my interpretation, but I am excited to hear what you have to say tomorrow :)
This was my favorite sentence in your essay that truly touched my heart: "In priority,I dream a life that I am deserved the name of christian, the son of God." Wow. The truth is because of Jesus Christ and what He has done, we can be called sons and daughters of God! A gift we will never deserve in any lifetime, but something we will have forever. It's so sad that you don't have a exact vision yet, but hopefully it's nice to hear that you have a interst in sociology and political philosophy. If you write a book about it I would definitely buy that book and want to read it. I have a question for you, Do you have any motivation for believing God? or are you a born Christian? Well, it may be a stupid question but I think there is something you've gone through before or experienced something. and I'm so curious about it.
